Our lending library is an ever-growing collection of carriers that are used by babywearers in our community. It gives the opportunity for people to try out different carriers at meetings and even check them out for the month to see if that particular carrier is a good fit for them. At meetings, VBE's (Volunteer Babywearing Educators) help fit the carrier to the baby and wearer's body, make sure it is being used properly, and teach about it's different features. The lending library is also an inexpensive way to play with a new carrier each month!
Our lending library contains a variety of soft structured carriers for babies and toddlers, mei tais, woven wraps in sizes 2-8, stretchy wraps, ring slings with a variety of shoulder types, and pouch slings. This gives people the opportunity to see numerous options for wearing a baby. We also have a separate outreach library that we take to to informative outreach events, such as "Mommy/Baby Hour" at local hospitals and businesses. This library allows VBE's to teach others about the benefits and safety of babywearing.
